ESOL Home Tutors trains volunteers to teach English to adult migrants and refugees in New Zealand. We also employ ESOL teachers.

Vacancies

As a volunteer ESOL home tutor you can

• learn about other cultures
• meet people from other countries
• develop new skills
• meet other tutors and learners at social events
• help people in your community

Training as a volunteer tutor

• 20 hours of free training
• Learn about cultural differences and teaching techniques
• Training is held in 23 towns and cities in New Zealand
• You are matched with a learner for at least six months
• A small charge for materials may apply

Certificate in ESOL Home Tutoring

After your training

Support is available at your ESOL Home Tutors centre.

• a library of teaching resources
• advice on tutoring from your local coordinator
• workshops with other tutors to develop your skills
• an annual conference for professional development
