Award to ESOL Home Tutors
15 September 2008
Diversity Forum presents 2008 awards.
At this year's Diversity Forum, held in Auckland, ESOL Home Tutors received a Diversity Action award from the Human Rights Commission.
The honour was in acknowledgment of the organisation's outstanding contribution to the New Zealand Diversity Action Programme over the past 12 months.
The Australian Aboriginal Social Justice Commissioner, Mr Tom Calma, presented the award to Claire Szabo, Chief Executive, ESOL Home Tutors.
"It was truly an honour to receive the award on behalf of our thousands of refugee and migrant learners, volunteers, and hundreds of staff - who, together make a huge difference to the everyday lives of newcomers to Aotearoa," said Ms Szabo.
Organisations were selected from over 250 organisations participating in the Programme. Altogether, twelve organisations received awards at the 25 August celebration.
